Thanks for bringing this up John, though I think it's slightly ahead of it's time as a discussion point, especially when it's still the 'best time to buy' and all.

Caveat emptor means little these days and we have a good chunk of Gen Y [and others] that are about to learn once again ... intimately.

This will loom large in the years to come as the market 'moderates' as TREB/CREA like to call it.

See how of these names are run out on a rail at that time.

Like any industry, it's good to see some of the players self-policing but it's too little, too late in most cases. The market momentum by that time had already been quite top-heavy and the frenzy had begun.

I fear those of you in the RE industry will get the stick [along with banks, govt] whether or not it's justified when this finally penetrates the general public.

Hi, very nice post. From the buyer's point of view more transparent offering process is a must. No one can make business when they don't trust the other side. As you said many buyers don't have confidence in the real estate industry. I hope that TREB will come with some solution next time. Cheers, Elli.

I'm surprised this isn't an issue here in St. John's. With the various mega projects expected to start over the next few years this market is hot, hot, hot and multiple offers are the norm. It would be too easy for an unscrupulous agent to work the system, but so far there's been no hint that this is happening. However I do like the idea of the registry system, tranparency around multiple offers is helpful to all involved.

My compliments - I like industry leaders. Cheers Larry
