Am I reading this right? The court ruled in favour of the builder, but the buyer still got most of his money back?

I agree - in all cases - your purchase and sale agreement should be reviewed by a lawyer. Especially in the case of new home purchase where the agreement is gigantic and very in favour of the builder typically. But, it doesn't really seem like the buyer paid much of a price in this instance for seriously breaching the contract (unless I missed something). Is this typical?

I agree with julie. The buyer should have paid the price for breaching the contract. People don't understand that when you sign something, it should mean something.
